Polis
Police Headquarters, Trier 2019
Forecourt: Sculpture Recycled Concrete, Ø 580 cm x height 120 cm
Atrium: Text/Emblem Screen Print on Glas, 230 cm x 120 cm
The construction waste of the General Post Office, which has been converted into the Police Headquarters, serves as ingredients for the concrete of the sculpture thus transforming the condemned building into public art. The sculpture adopts the form of arena of the ancient greek theatron with its implications of political participation.
On the glas facade a text on the notion of POLIS can be found, including the hint that the term "police" derives from Greek Polis, πόλις.
